Larry LordI've been thinking about a new product that RPL has suggested for the Prowler trailers.

This is a guard for the lock mechanism and latch assembly at the rear inside of the trailer that will help to prevent scuffing of luggage and give your trailer a more finished look.
It will have to be fastened only to the floor by using at least 2 bolts.
I can paint them or sell them raw and ready for carpet.
I can also make the from stainless steel but the cost jumps up quite a bit if I do.

What are your thoughts? Are they needed? Would you buy one in the $20 - $30 dollar range?

Thanks for your opinions.

Wayne FinchAt that price, I'd be there. Can you get it carpeted as my guess is the existing carpet would not cover. Nice idea
WildCatSure Larry,

My trailer would not be complete with out the latest Larry Lord Prowler product

and from the way everyone is talking about the WONDER BAR, if I ever get the Dart done I'll probably need one of those too. I have a few things I would like to do to the cat but only one car apart at a time

I think stainless would be over kill. Powder coated black or a dark gray like the carpet would be good then if they wanted to carpet they could and if not it is finished and you only have to make it one way.

Just My Opinion

Larry, Count me in! Ransom

Dave MillsLarry: I would buy one as well.
BeWareI need to know a measurement from the inside front of the trailer to inside lowest edge of the cover. I carry a canopy in the trailer and its is a tight fit. If the Canopy will fit I too would be interested at the $20 - $30 price range.
jd2ksilverI have the same concern as Rich, I also haul two Ez up tents.

Scott made me something similar to that, but only covers the latch itself, sort of like a semi circle.

One thing to think about for all trailer owners is, a access panel cut through the floor. To enable you to manually release the catch in case something happens to it. It did with me. When putting in one the car tents I mentioned above, it caught the latch and broke. I could not release it with the key anymore. Scott cut a 4 inch circle through the floor from underneath to stick a arm up to release it manually. Then, put a very clean bracket arrangement so we could screw the cover back on. So, if anything happens again, we could just unscrew it. I will try to get pics, but since mine was done he has modified it to look even better.

Update, I went out to look. I currently have one tent only in the trailer, but it looks like plenty of room. Clean look Larry.
Trailer owners may want to consider a access panel.

This is the access panel from underneath, I missed it a bit as I just stuck the camera unerneath. But I have had to use this since, glad I have it in.

DR PROWLERSuper idea...I'm in as soon as I get the trailer!
Larry LordRich and JD,
51" from the center bottom of the front wall to the bottom bend. 53" to the upper bend. These measurements were taken without any carpet. The guard is 36" long.

Larry Mayes and Wayne,
I think carpet is the best way to go but I'm not in the carpet business so I think I'll offer these in either raw or painted. I'm leaning strongly to just offering them raw as I think most will carpet over them and it will help me to keep the cost down.

JD,
There are couple of easier ways to get access to the latch in an emergency. I've done it to 3 trailers now and it's a simple job though not nearly as fancy.
I'll try to post a picture and directions when I get more time.

jd2ksilverThe latch access worked good in my case. I broke it throwing in one of my EZ up tents. So it wasn't just a matter of pulling cable manually. I had to reach up and release it myself.

Anyway, looks like a clean looking product Larry.

indy96Larry:
Sounds like a plan. I agree with powder coat black or gray. Let me know when they're available. Your products are great.
